That's why I feel at liberty to point out his terrible failure now. The media narrative of Hodgson at Liverpool is that the fans were against him from the start, but I don't think that's true, many of us were perfectly supportive in the beginning. But he failed at Liverpool on so many levels. If it was just in terms of poor results, poor signings etc, I might be less vitriolic, but the way he handled himself while he was at Anfield was a bit sickening at times. Seemed to be doing his best to blame the players for the fact that his tactics stunk, presumably hoping that if he could get people thinking the team was shit rather than him, he'd have longer to turn things round. I thought it was deeply undignified. Fair play to him, though, he's doing well at WBA and his success at Fulham has been well documented.

Re: Insua, he hasn't technically left, he's on loan in Turkey, but I expect us to sell him. He's not the fastest, and doesn't seem to have progressed enough to earn a place in the team. He hasn't even nailed down a place at Galatasaray.

And I think Kelly, Carragher and Wilson are good backups. Skrtel's not that injury prone. I wouldn't mind if we bought Sakho, mind you, I hear he's on our radar.Phil Doddshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17525530095868120444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8151282770274577822.post-64550770123020140132011-05-02T16:36:40.911+01:002011-05-02T16:36:40.911+01:00I seem to remember you saying at the start of the ...I seem to remember you saying at the start of the season, that Liverpool had easily outdone all the other teams in terms of signings. Pointing out Jonjo Shelvy and Joe Cole as particular highlights. I think you should ease up on the Hodgson bashing, as he has been at 3 teams in the past 3 years and done well at 2. Maybe liverpools players werent receptive enough to his methods, maybe he wasnt good enough at the top level, but I would have thought it deserved a little more sympathy.

It seems that Liverpool are in a really exciting period. I've seen extended highlights of the past few matches and the likes of Spearing, Lucas, Kuyt and Suarez are showing signs that they deserve to play at a top level side.

I'd say that a creative, quick winger is a must (possibly alexis sanchez). Maybe even 2 creative quick wingers? Has Insua left the club for good? He always showed signs of being a good player, and if he can get a good pre season with Kenny then you may not need another left back at all.

I think maybe a centre half would be useful, just because Agger and Skrtle, whilst easily capable, are injury prone. Have you seen much of that young defender Wilson?Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02106909510496263611noreply@blogger.com
